OUR COACHES
Lee Eckert, Varsity Head Coach
Lee is entering his fourth season as Head Coach at Elizabethtown Area School District. He has been an integral part of the program's recent success, mentoring Larry Locker '19 for four years, as he ultimately became the program's all-time leading scorer (1,268 points). After 2 years as the Junior Varsity Head Coach, Lee became the Varsity Assistant for 3 seasons in which the team's wins increased from 10 to 17. In his first full season, Lee took the bears back to the state playoffs and coached all section players, Pat and Matt Gilhool.
Lee played varsity basketball for coaches Danny Walck and Warren Goodling at Hempfield. The Black Knights went 29-2 during his junior season (2009-10) and won the Lancaster-Lebanon League Championship, before finishing as PIAA District 3 Class AAAA Runners-up. That team also made it to the quarterfinals of the PIAA Class AAAA state championships in '09-10. They captured a second straight L-L League title in 2010-11. He averaged a double-double per game as a senior, with 15 points per contest and 10 boards per game. He was a Lancaster-Lebanon League All-Star, section one player of the year, as well as a L-L League Co-MVP as a senior. Lee went on to play four years at Elizabethtown college for Coach Bob Schlosser. He is married to his wife Rachel and lives in Mount Joy with his two children, Brooks and Ava.
CHADD WARD, JV Head Coach
Coach Ward is in his second year as the Head Coach of the Elizabethtown High School JV team. Prior to that, he was the head coach of the Middle School team for two years. He also was the Head Coach for the Varsity Girls basketball team at Donegal for nine seasons from 2008-2017. During his tenure at Donegal, his team won back to back section titles and qualified for districts 3 times. Coach Ward is also the Commissioner of EBC Baseball, an Assistant Coach for the High School baseball team and is a teacher at Elizabethtown Middle School
DYLAN HOUSEAL, Junior High Head Coach
Coach Houseal is in his second year as the Junior High head coach. He is a 2013 graduate from Donegal High School where he played baseball and basketball and was 3 year varsity starter in both. He was part of the 29-3 basketball team that went deep in the playoffs and state tournament (beating nationally ranked teams along the way). Coach Houseal went on to Millersville University, majoring in Geography and graduating in 2017. He works in Harrisburg at an engineering firm and lives in E-Town with his wife Anya.
